Member Experience

Bi-Okoto continues to offer weekly classes that engage children and adults through Authentic African drumming, dance, traditional languages, cooking, art, and theatre. These classes are offered on Saturdays to provide opportunities for children and adults to attend without sacrificing school and work schedules. We typically serve between 1,500 and 2,000 children and adults annually. We provide these services free of charge to children 17 and under.

We also offer a B-FIT program onsite that consist of a healthy/culturally inspired set of classes that offer Afro-Cardio, Egyptian Belly dance, Zumba, Kizomba, Salsa, Yoga. Due to the success of the B-FIT program, we expanded it into five underserved Place Matters communities. We typically serve between 700 and 1,300 adults annually.

Many of the children participating in our after-school and residency programs also attend our 11-week summer camp that keeps them engaged in a healthy and culturally diverse summer program in a safe environment. During this 11-week summer camp, the children participate in cultural and character building activities in-house and attend weekly field trips to various arts and community activities. Bi-Okoto provides a free breakfast and hot lunch during summer camp hours. Due to space constraints we typically serve between 40 and 80 school-aged children.

Bi-Okoto is the premier Authentic African Multicultural Center in Greater Cincinnati. Many educational, business and civic organizations throughout Greater Cincinnati often request that we provide their organizations with on-site Authentic African lecture demonstrations and workshops. The lecture demonstrations engage participants over the course of one hour through traditional African song, music and dances from various regions of the continent of Africa.

Our various productions/theatre experiences offer cultural engagement for everyone, from children to senior citizens. Through these productions/theatre experiences, participants are educated and entertained through African dance drama productions, and dinner theatre.
